Thief Job Strategy By Sanjie (Sanjutsi@hotmail.com) This information was released by several RO players, hope this information will come in use. This is a strategy guid for the thief class, a list of recommended flee and hit needed by thiefs for each monster and a list of EXP (each class) given by every single monster in Rune-Midgard. -------------------- 1. How to change your job into a Thief ------------------------ Once you hit Job level 10, you're presented with the challenge of getting to the Thieves Guild. It's easier said, than done, because the Guild is located in the middle of the Pyramids (Morroc) - and as most of us know, there are aggresive monsters in the pyramids that could be a pain for the average Novice. There are no other special requirements to be accepted into the Thieves Guild. 2. Thief Equipment ------------------ This is the most logical and best equipment for the class thief; HEAD - Helm, to help out in the early stages. WEAPON - Gladius. Damascus is ideal, but too rare to be an option BODY - Tights in the early stage, Ninja Suit in the long run. ROBE - Manteau FEET - Boots SHEELD - Buckler ACCECOIRES - Not neccecarily needed, brooch and globe are recommended if you intend to purchace some anyhow. 4. Stat Distribution -------------------- As a general guideline, I will say that for Thieves in the early stages, AGI is the stat to develop. You will want to pump this to around 50-55 as soon as you can. This doesn't mean you can neglect the other stats. DEX is important, as well. If you can not hit monsters, they will get an extra chance to hit you, which can't be a good thing. Up until level 30, I suggest having 20-25 DEX (if you followed my earlier advice and bought Tights, you'll have a nice +5 DEX boost to complement your natural dexterity). Remember: with each level up, you gain an extra point in your Hit rate status, so even without adding to DEX, you will become more accurate. Keep this in mind before pumping DEX too much. Generally, you'll want to have at least 20 STR by the time you reach level 30. At each 10-point increment in this stat, you'll receive a very noticeable damage bonus. More often than not, these bonuses will determine whether you're able to move to a harder area within the game. For example, 30 STR is, in my opinion, the bare minimum needed to do well in the Pyramids. 40 STR, you'll be able to level comfortably here. 50, you can fight Nightmares and actually do more than 1 damage per hit. And so on. Summary: STR - Important, but not a priority until you hit around 50-55 AGI AGI - Main status for early levels. Try to reach 50 as soon as possible DEX - About 25 by level 30. 30-40 in the long run. VIT - Helps to complement AGI, especially when you get mobbed. I don't recommend getting more than 10/20 - at least not until you have achieved your ideal Flee. INT - Not really important, unless you prefer some extra SP points and faster recovery of SP. LUK - Improves Crit, Perfect Dodge, and as rumored, the % penalty in Flee when attacked by more than 1 creature. As with STR, you can expect a 'bonus' at every increment of 10, but I don't suggest pumping this stat too much until you're comfortable with your main stats. 5. Skills --------- So, most likely you'll already know that the most useful skills in our arsenal is Double Slash and Dodge. I will not tell you which to add to first. There are people who favor better Dodge, others will swear by higher damage. Personally, I upped them both in equal amounts. Hide will be a good friend in places like the Pyramids, Payon and Geffen. Get mobbed? Hide and wait for the crowd to disperse. In the long run, add a maximum of 5 points into this. Envenom is a very usefull skill against low/medium leveled monsters, this will help you defeat monster quicker and level you up faster. Since the skill isn't very usefull against high-leveled monsters (most of the high leveled monsters are undead) It isn't wise to pump all your points into this skill, unless you want to build up a very strong envenom skill against some (2/3) of the monsters in the hidden temple you will meet later. (hardest place in the game) Steal is a fun skill, but it's very inconsistent, so I do not recommend maxing this at first. 6. Flee Chart ------------- With help from Hoochie, here's a general guideline for the Flee rate you need to fight certain enemies. This is assuming you have maxed Dodge. 80 - Yoyo/Smokie/Willow 90 - Orc, Poison Spore 100 - Skeleton warrior/archer/Munak, Obeaune, Thara Frog 110 - Mummy/Isis/vorits, Marc 125+ - Nightmare, Sidewinder, Hunter Flies 140-160 for harder bosses 7. Leveling Guide ----------------- And finally, where to go at certain levels? Of course, this depends on how you used your stats, but here are some general suggestions: 10-15 - Rocker field for Hornets, Rockers 15-25 - Payon forest, Pyramids (1), Culvert level (1/2/3). 25-30 - Pecopecos, Wormtails, Creamies 30-35 - Yoyo forest, killing Yoyos, Smokies and Elder Willows 35-40 - Desert, killing Steel Chons/Metallers 40-45 - Orcs, or Geffen Tower 1 killing Poison Spores/Steel Chons. 45-50 - Payon floor 2, Bibalan floor 2 for Megalodons 50+ - Payon floor 3, Bibalan floor 3, Sunken Vessel, Pyramid level 2 (Mistress/Goldbug) 60+ - Pyramid level 3/4 (Osiris) 70+ - Hidden Temple (Bophamet) Notice that this list is for people who do not have access to godly equipment or infinite amounts of potions. Do not try to compare your Thief with those of a new player who has had to start from scratch. 8. Money ----------------- Save all your money for weapons, buy step by step a higher ATK weapon. Until you have enough for the almighty Gladius. (around 14,000 zeny) After purchasing one of these, start saving for a pair of tights. Wear all the armor and other equipment which is dropped by monsters until you know you can easily make up enough for tights. Start buying the further equipment, in the following order; buckler, boots, manteau. After receiving all these, Start saving for a ninja suit. Gather around as much money as possible, don't waste too much on pots. When you scramble almost enough, sell your tights and buy a ninja suit with the money you made. 9.
